Postby tkaatz on Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:06 am

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone knew about a good M4 or M16 model that has good range and accuracy, there r just so many brands.

Most airsoft guns can have good range and accuracy. You can take a cheaper brand like JG, throw a tightbore and a few parts in and it will shoot just as good or better than some of the higher end ones for a cheaper price.

Would have to agree with Blitz. The JG makes a good little starting point for almost nothing.

Have y'all noticed gander is now carrying JG?

Wow I didnt realize Gander was starting to carry real airsoft guns.

Yeah alot of guys have had phenomenal results with using JG guns as starter platforms like Blitz said.

I have a JG AUG and love it, some people like to take Dboy M4's for the metal body, and put new gearboxes in them too. Personal preference!

I think they're JG's . I popped one of the display AR's in Beaumont open, and it was definitely a metal box and TM style hop-up that JG uses.

It's really funny, the even have a thompson clone. Looking at kastway they're asking about 50-75$ more than rick does before shipping.

The dboy wouldn't be a bad idea either, as the metal body issue isn't mandatory, but my preference is by far and away to have one. I can't stand the slop, I had to go to a FF front end and a metal body.

That is true, though in a couple months I'll probably be the proud owner of a real AR-15. :-)

Howdy y'all. It's been a while. Personally I've got my eyes on one of these 2. Both JGs, of course.

I love the looks of the RAS version.

The new JG HK416s are hot guns for the money if you want the M4/M16 style in an AEG.

ok now I need a yalls opinion, these are the two guns I'm deciding on. The G36 is $30-40 cheaper but it only shoots about 400 fps. The M4 shoots 430 but its $30 higher. I can't make a decision

Dont buy a gun based on FPS ever.
I bought an AUG because it had a V3 gearbox (one of the most solid versions, cheap parts, easy takedown), was simple and is a bullpup (compact, but long M16length barrel at 509mm).

I dont know much about armalites or hk's.
I believe Blitz has a G36, so he could give you the details on those. I believe G36 variants are all V3, but I could be wrong. The magazines are also "stackable", which is very handy.

Several people have armalites, internally they are almost all the same, V2 gearboxes and the same hopups.

Quality varies with different manufacturers and price!!

First of all if the m4 is shooting 430, it is shooting hot and will not be allowed on the field to be played with. All g36s are version 3s, which are stronger mech boxes than version 2s. As a new player you shouldn't be worried about FPS, and its not that big of a deal, especially in small skirmishes. If you want it upgraded later, there are many of us here who have had experience upgrading our own guns. Go with what you like and what works for you financially.

Blitz, what AR are you looking at? If your interested in building(saves you about 300$ in taxes actually), I have friends with action blocks here in town that will help you barrel an upper.

On Blitz's comment on FPS not being an issue. First of all if you start out with a lower fps stock gun. Your skills will inherently grow. Then when you do upgrade you are an even better player. Blitz and I used to go out with just our pistols or stay on semi. It allows you to learn the abilities of your self and your replica better. Second. A stock TM shooting 270 will out range most knock offs that shoot 330-350. Velocity isn't always a good thing if you don't have the barrel and hop up to back it up.

You probably mean a TM is much better in consistency than the Chinese guns made.

It is phisically imposible for 270FPS to beat 330.

No, I mean what I said. The velocity may carry more inertia thus go further theoretically, but the hop up does counter act the law of gravity in some ways. Take Blitzkrieg old G-spec for example. I want to see a stock JG out range it if he still had it.

Speaking of G36 upgrades...I just put a longer tightbore in my JG and added some barrel to it (man, ebaybanned has some nice stuff). It's accuracy and distance definitely improved.

Here she is.
